Nevertheless, the GB team has been doing very well in the World Cycling Championships and the Cricket World Cup continues it’s relentless march to a conclusion (finally!). New Zealand bowled extremely tightly against the South Africans earlier today and Pakistan dominated the West Indies to win at a canter. Throw in one billion Indians cheering on their side and you are left with one more semi final place up for grabs, but will it be Sri Lanka’s or England’s?

Sri Lanka v England (Top England wicket-taker Graeme Swann - 2/1)

Well, Sri Lanka start the game as favourites and I wouldn’t argue with that given the statistics, but England have really been up and down in this competition and it is difficult to predict exactly which team will turn up. That said, one certainty for me is that Swanny will turn up at the party and at 2/1 to be the top England wicket taker, this is good value for me. He will want to show James Treadwell that he is still the fulcrum of spin in the England side and so I am tipping him to bowl well, although it may not quite be enough for England in the end.

Bournemouth v Charlton (goals crazy - 5/6)

It’s worth noting a number of things regarding this fixture. The Cherries boast a formidable goal scoring record at home this season, having scored a massive 41 goals already – a statistic only free-scoring Brighton and Peterborough can top thus far. For their part, Charlton have a nack of scoring away from home when the pressure is off. They have hit the net 29 times away from home, currently better than any side outside the top four. This is why I am going for the goals crazy option. The most important things to note though, is that this is a 1.00pm kick-off!

Wales v England (both teams to score – evens)
The game of the day just has to be included in the treble, but England to win at 2/5 didn’t float my boat either. I have plumped for the ‘both teams to score’ option, mainly due to the fact that England struggled last time out against Montenegro and I’m not certain how many they’ll bag – will it be another misfiring World Cup performance with a lack of imagination up front or the genuine article this time? Will the Welsh passion conjure up what should be merely a consolation goal at some stage? I reckon we’ll see a bit of both and chances at either end, so although I expect England to win, it could be a narrow 2-1 result.

The £10 treble pays £110 – I admit this lacks the certainty of my previous weeks bets, however I hope at the very least it will provide some excitement over the course of the afternoon!
